Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
I've been on Puff for about a year. Stumbled upon it looking for info about Cigars and found plenty here.
Reading some of the posts on the pipe forum I've developed an interest in trying a pipe. Just ordered a few cobs and plan on buying some samples to see if I can find something I like. Something to keep me occupied when the snow flies. So the slide down another slippery slope begins.

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Hi all
Just realised I made my first post without managing to find the right place to introduce myself. I'm Tony, a 53 year old snuffer and pipe smoker from Hull, Yorkshire. These days with smoking bans in force I only ever smoke a pipe at home but my snuff is always with me. I've been using both for over 35 years, pipes since I was 16 and snuff since I was 18. My usual preference for pipe tobacco is Virginia flakes, with or without additions and I am definitely into my Peterson pipes, though I have a fair few others as well. Good to be here! - Tony |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Greetings. I'm Mason, a 48 year old (how did that happen?) long haul trucker and pipe smoker.
I found this forum through Google and thought I'd check it out as I am a member of some other pipe forums. Let's see, I prefer English blend tobaccos but enjoy an aromatic once in a while, smoked nothing but meerschaums for a long time but have recently started smoking more briars, and enjoy seeking out brick and mortar tobacconist shops as I travel around the country. I am a somewhat old fashioned gentleman and enjoy some of the finer gentlemanly pursuits of life, including a good pipe. Some of my other interests include recumbent bicycling, reading, and knitting. |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
I've been lurking here for awhile, so I suppose its time to introduce myself. I've been smoking a pipe for about 2 years now, after my wife and friends gave me a nice little birthday gift of a Peterson Aran bent billiard with some accessories. Though I started with my first pipe about 10 years ago, moving into cigars, then cigarettes, then quitting it all for several years. Recently I scored an unsmoked "estate" lot on Ebay of 2 Kaywoodies, a Medico, and a Yellow Bole (for $20!!). I found this forum when googling for more info on my these pipes, so I decided to join up!

By all means, smoke your pipe while driving your truck! Just don't drive, smoke, read and knit at the same time!

Welcome!
Ebay is a great resource if you know what you're looking for (and, at!). Sounds like a good score, particularly unsmoked. Quote:

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
My Uncle Gene, the only other man I know who can knit without a Shima Seiki or Vanguard machine, was a knitting fool. In fact, he was some kind of a knitting mutant; Gene knitted patterns and images without consulting a written pattern (or without giving one more than a couple of glances). He didn't count stitches on patterns, he just "did" it. My mother thought he was from another planet - used to drive her nuts that anyone had such a power.
What's your specialty?

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Hello all. Just found the site recently and have enjoyed reading some of the threads. I started smoking Captain Black-white pouch from a Dr. Grabow in college over 20 years ago. I puffed on that half bent, meerschaum-lined rascal mercilessly when up late in those days. If memory serves me correctly, which is highly suspect, it's sweet smell wafting down the hall or across the lawn would bring cute co-eds running to my lair, sniffing for the source of that irresistable smell like bears after a pan of sizzling bacon. Ah, but its too early to wax nostalgic like this. For some reason, the pipe fell out of use for much of the intervening time and has only recently been dusted off and filled with a different sticky vanilla aromatic (Black and Mild).
I have also picked up a couple of cobs and am currently doing a sweep of a bunch of the OTC burleys. I'm currently making my way through Prince Albert, Half & Half, Kentucky Club Mild, Middleton's Cherry Blend, Kentucky Club Aromatic Mixture, Granger, Carter Hall, Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Walter Raleigh Aromatic, Black and Mild, and Gold and Mild. Also dropped in to a local B&M and sampled a few of their house blends and walked away with pouches of a burley blend, a chocolate-laced light aromatic, and a smokey/catholic church-incense-like English blend. Prior to picking up the pipe again a month or so ago, I have spent the last several years chomping and puffing on cigars of all sorts. The current favorite there is a Rocky Patel Sungrown. Simply delicious. Well, think I'll load up another bowl of grandpa burley and start puffin... Look forward to participating here. D. nepheligina |

Re: Pipe Forum: new members (introduce yourself)
Hi everyone, just found this site a few days ago while sufing the web while enjoying my pipe. I've been smoking the pipe for about 14 years now. Started out smoking aromatics, moved to virginia's and am now beginning to enjoy english and balkan blends. With so many great blends its hard to choose whats next, I usually have about 12 tins open at a time. Well, just wanted to give a shout out and say hi, this looks like a great forum.
