Near Bliss
I just though I would share what has been, at least to this point, my best pipe experience to date.
I just got a Dr Plumb meerschaum lined estate pipe a few days ago, and today was my first use of it after getting it cleaned up. I decided to try some Dunhil 965 while I was staining some wood for siding. I should mention that the wood was cedar, because I think it is important . Between the smell of the cedar and the wonderful aromas of the 965, I kept finding myself just kind of sitting, not actually doing any work as it was just so good, I had to keep reminding myself that I was actually trying to get something else accomplished .To me, this is exactly the kind of thing that I took up the pipe for, those moments when you really have no choice but to relax .I encourage everyone to share similar experiences, after all, isn't this why we chose a pipe?

Re: Near Bliss
The same thing happened to me while I was fixing my wife's car out in the driveway. I wonder if being in the pipe "zone" is the reason pipers live longer. Because the pipe requires it, we learn to relax while doing tasks that otherwise we would rush through and stress out about. As a result - we slow down and are "in the moment" more. Bliss, indeed!

Re: Near Bliss
I can literally sit on my front porch, smoke a bowl of tobacco(965 is a great choice btw) and enjoy nature. Acutely aware of everything going on around you. My senses are heightened while still relaxing. "The Zone", or deprogramming, is a very cool place to be especially after a 12 hour shift of deadlines and constant noise.

Re: Near Bliss
Smoking a pipe makes picking up all the darn pinecones in my yard almost fun. Almost!!
I actually saw an older gentleman walking a dog while smoking a pipe in my neighborhood last evening. I'll have to strike up a conversation with him next time I see him.
