Dilemma

I have a dilemma!

I'm thinking of buying a briar, and I can't decide between the three! Any info on any of these pipes, or experience/advice with/about them for a newb would be greatly appreciated.

The two brighampipes links don't work...it just brings you to the main Brigham page.

The savanelli is really sharp looking.

Re: Dilemma

I have a couple savinelli pipes and they are both great smokers. I am not familiar with the other brand.

First I would like to start off and say I am not an expert however I would say it is a little hard to offer information about Pipes. Seeing everyone is different. I would say that Savinelli is a good pipe I have 3 pipes all are about the same in look. However here is where they differ. My Savinelli is a Dri Smoke pipe and uses a 6mm Balsa wood filter, My Dr Grabow uses a 9mm natural wood filter and then I have a No name printed Seconds pipe (not good enough for the name stamp) this pipe is filterless and I like all 3. The question is what pipe tobacco are you going to be smoking? If it is Cavendish I would say look for a dri system pipe. Just make sure you have extra filters and paper towels handy to change them. I have found that the pipe tobacco I am smoking now is Burley and it is not as wet and doesn't burn as hot. Only thing is 2 different flavors and 3 if you mix the 2 can be found at this time in my area. That is Burley Supreme and Captain's Choice that if mixed makes First mate. I have seen more choices online but have not tried them.

Re: Dilemma

I have one Sav and it smokes like a champ.

The Brigham (since 1906 - how bad can they be?) is unknown to me but their warranty speaks for itself. I say that, as a Canadian, you should support the home team and get a couple of Briggies and tell us all about them. Which is not to say that the Red Wings will not win the Stanley Cup.

THE BRIGHAM WARRANTY
[SIZE=2]Brigham pipes are unconditionally warranted against any manufacturer’s defect in material or workmanship for three months after purchase. If you are not entirely satisfied with your pipe, please contact us and we will correct the problem to your full satisfaction. It’s that simple.

Perhaps it is just that I live in the mountains, but the Brigham mountaineer in the 26 or 29 looks damn good. I am thinking I may need to go shopping .

I would tend to agree with his Moo-ness about supporting the "home team" but you really can't go wrong with a Savinelli either. They are affordable and reliable. I have always heard good things about Brighams just never had any personal experience.

That's my train of thought as well, and I can get them online in Canada for the same price as they go for in the States, which is a rarity. Plus their filter system seems pretty good as well, worth a try at least.

Besides, if I get a Brigham now, I can always pick up that Savinelli later

That and I've deemed it necessary to buy a couple more cobs...and pick up some tobacco...here we go...

Savinelli makes a damn good pipe for the $$ (I have 2 & use the balsa filters as well) ... as for the other ... not a clue. If you decide on the Brigham, let us know how she performs.

Re: Dilemma

I'm so indecisive haha! We'll have to see, cause I want to pick up some tobacco too. Either way, I will end up with a Brigham eventually, so I'll be sure to report back.
