Re: What am I doing wrong?
Everyone here has given you some great advice. I just thought I would chime in and give you a pointer on the child/mother/father method. This was the method I started with and for the first couple bowls I still got poor results. Then one day I decided to pack much, much, much less tight and as a result needed almost no relights. When you do the child pack you should gravity feed the pipe and then push down ever so slightly. You honestly shouldn't feel any resistance at all when your pushing. Perhaps it should be called the infant step. From there just progress slightly adding just a bit more pressure each time.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
uhhhh when my girl was an infant, she demolished every toy she touched. 'twas like a wrecking ball in diapers.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Well today I fired up a bowl of Penzance, I packed a bit different. I used the Child moth father thing and it was great. Never went out, never had to relight. Very nice. Lets see if I can do it twice in a row.

![]() It comes with practice, eventually it becomes second nature, just like learning to eat a burrito without spilling it all over yerself like when you were 4 years old.
