I do the wash with dishwashing soap, rinse, and dry. Then as added protection I swish a little vodka around in the jar and pour it out, flip the jar over and let it air dry on a towel. I figure the alcohol helps kill any nasties and doesn't impart any bad tastes to the baccy.

Maybe he doesn't prefer his vodka with hit of dish washing liquid. lol, oh well, take a swig from the vodka for you and dump the rest for your fallen homies.
