Rattray's Black Mallory

I got really lucky Friday and stopped by a local shop and picked up a tin of Rattray's Black Mallory. This shop looked like they hadn't ordered new inventory since the late 80s. The US distributor on the back was James B Russell, which was an older distributor. When I opened the tin (I figured enjoy it, right?) I was greeted by a dusting of sugar on top of everything. This stuff is awesome! Having never enjoyed some really aged tobacco I see what the fuss is all about.

My advise is that if you have a shop in your town that doesn't get a lot of traffic, go there. Those old dusty tins on the shelf are pure gold!

Did thay have any more???
I love it fresh, so I can only imagine how good it is with some age. I can't keep it around long enough to find out though.

It was all he had. I've never had it fresh but had been wanting to pick some up. When I saw how old the tin was I knew I had hit the jackpot.
