Your Personal Tobacco Blends & Parfaits

What Are Your Personal Tobacco Blends/Mixtures and Preferred Tobacco Parfaits?

I think it’s fair to say that many pipe smokers, if not most of us, have experimented with creating blends that suit our taste, by simply combining previously available blends, in various portions. Many also simply tweak available blends by adding a new raw mixing component, such as raw Perique, Latakia or a burley, etc. or by adding a bit more of a component already in the original blend, to increase that specific tobaccos presence within the blend. IMHO, most of the time, the result is okay and very smokeable, but nothing truly great. Sometimes, it’s just not very good at all, and then again, once in awhile we come up with something truly special, at least to us, individually!

I also believe the very same about creating a Parfait. Most of the time the result is okay and a decent smoke, but nothing special. Sometimes, it just sucks, and then again, once in awhile we come up with something truly special, at least to us, individually!

My intention is to create kind of a catalog or library of sorts, listing as many of these types of blends and parfaits that I can get. I also plan to ID the person/creator of them within the listing, unless that person does not want their ID listed!

Once completed, I will share the listings with anyone who wants a copy.

If you have any Personal Tobacco Blends/Mixtures and/or Preferred Tobacco Parfaits that you would like to share with our, as well as other, pipe smoking communities, please PM me or send me an email at (johnnyflake@yahoo.com) with a listing of same. Also let me know if you’d like your name & handle listed with your blends & parfaits, or not!

I have no idea how long this project will take. Obviously, it will depend on how much input I receive. If your willing to share your ideas, please try to submit the information as soon as you can. If you plan to send me a listing, please try to get it to me before August 15th.

Regards, Johnny

Thumbs up Re: Your Personal Tobacco Blends & Parfaits

I was watching a vid on youtube by a bloke called Tim J. Geering. (Who also has some great pipe vids that are informative and educational) He said his personal blend consisted of 1 Oz of Black spice with 4 Oz of Black Cherry and 2 Oz of Rum flake. Anyway I promptly went out purchased these tobaks and lo and behold they mix together very nicely.

The flavoring is superb, if you can get a hold of these tobaks that are made by Gawith and Hogarth then go for it!

I found his video on blending tobacco... Here it is.

Re: Your Personal Tobacco Blends & Parfaits

There is an Aro blend that an old timer and my self put together this past year at the local B&M. We just call it "Ed's Blend". I'll have to look into find out what it ended up being.

I know it has something called "Golden Nugget", and another bulk called "Orient Express", but I forget what the others are.

I just love Geering's videos, we post quite a few comments to each other on Utube...he has that quintessential West Country manner about him. It's on the cards to do a baccy swap. COTW if you can pick up G&H blends your blessed....I wish they would sell them here.

If you are finding it difficult to buy G&H blends then I reccommend a U.K website http://www.mysmokingshop.co.uk

They have a great selection of G&H blends and they sell them in 25, 50 and 500g bags. They ship to Europe for £3.20 sterling. I've bought bits and pieces off them. Reliable people...

Re: Your Personal Tobacco Blends & Parfaits

Another blend tweak I have had success with:

When I load a baggie with MacB plumcake for a day, I will reach into my tin of Paul Olsen A's #7000 blend for barely a pinch of its Latakia laden goodness. The #7000 makes a HUGE difference in the character of the Plumcake. It's almost as if it helps provide more contrast so as to help you discern the flavors more seperately. I hope that makes some sense.
