Re: McC Royal Cajun Series

I've had about 5 bowls of both Ebony and Dark. I am glad I tried them but I'll not likely get more. But they are both worthy of a shot and are interesting to say the least. Think of McC Virginia Woods as a baseline.

I found both Cajun's to be much easier to deal with and smoke that the VA Woods. Problem for me was Dark was too light and Ebony was a bit too sweet. But certainly you should give them a shot.

I have tried neither but....

Scott-I have a tin of Ebony that I haven't opened yet. If you shoot me your addy, I'll send you a bit to try.

This will give me a perfect excuse to sample some myself!

Evan,

Does it come in the usual McC broken flake form that takes forever to dry out?

Kinda, but not as hard to dry as Xmas Cheer or Dark Star. But truth is what I had was in sample baggies so who knows how much they broke down before I got them. But yeah...it seemed to take a bit to dry out

Re: McC Royal Cajun Series

I just finished a bowl of Ebony. Took it out of a freshly opened can and let it dry for no more than a half hour. It's what I guess you'd call a "cut flake"? Originally, when I first saw it, I figured it would dry out too much and become a bit hard, similar to 5105. Didn't have any problems keeping it lit.

It was pretty good...mild, yet sweet. I'll give it another try in a day or two.
