Won an eBay pipe
Well I say won but no one else bid on it. This will be my 2nd pipe, was gifted an old one. It's a meerschaum, carved like a pirate, with a green stem.
I read the tips on breaking it in, clean hands, hold by the stem... Was wondering if there is a preferred tobacco for getting it to color well? I picked up a couple of tins of Davidoff blends, Blue mix and Red mix. Should I use these in it?Previously, having only the one pipe, I wasn't able to smoke that much. So, no experience with tobaccos really.

Re: Won an eBay pipe
Congrats. A meer is great for a guy with not a lot of pipes. Smoke whatever you like and do it all day long. If its your primary pipe it should start to color fairly quickly.

I love my meers for all kinds of tobak; they are very nice for the no-ghost and no-soggy-wood aspects. Just make sure to let it cool off well before reloading or cleaning the bowl.

Re: Won an eBay pipe
I use my meers mostly for those non-english tobacs, as most of my briars are english dedicated. Like the others said, you can smoke anything in them really. I did see a piece someone had wrote about saying what types of tobac color the pipe different shades to start with and how quickly, but I'm not sure where I saw that at, but whatever you smoke in it, I think it should eventually get a dark purple shade if I remember correctly.

Re: Won an eBay pipe
Nice find, Joe - the international Turkish Canadian... very handsome meer, for sure.

Re: Won an eBay pipe
The pictured pipe is the ebay listing Joe referred to, not the pipe that mr. flibs just won. We're still waiting to see Flibbles carved pirate. As to the ebay pipe above, it appears to be new, delivered pre-patina'ed.
Hey Mr. Fibble - my first pipe was a meer carved like a pirate or buccaneer or something too. I've had it a long time and it smokes great. Pirate pipes are chick-magnets, BTW.
