Questions about Toronto Canada

Plans change as usual I will be coming to Toronto instead of Venice. From what I understand, Canada is even more insane as far as anti smoking than the US is, if that is possible. I was going to bring 2 of my pipes and some tobacco but are there any pubs, lounges or bars that even allow smoking?

I know to bring my own tobacco I can't see spending over $25 for a 50g tin of Tobacco

I'm looking forwars to the trip and looking forward to seeing a beautiful city, but should I leave the pipes at home?

Du to the Smoke Free Ontario Act, even B&Ms were forced to close their lounges. The only real option is an outdoor patio. There is some info here, though I haven't been to any myself:

Sadly it remains a federal crime for US citizens to purchase, possess or consume many cigars sold in Canada. Yet the cigar retailers lounges are still smoke and coffee friendly, are they not?

Re: Questions about Toronto Canada

you can't smoke anywhere with a roof (or 3+ walls).

some patios are still 'friendly' but count on some comments. just have to ask the waitress first.

if it was me, i would not leave my pipe at home.

I am cryin' on the inside. Granted, it has been years since you could light up a cigar at a hockey game... Now THAT is a catastrophe I may never get over - snif - but no cigar smoke in a cigar store?

So, from a practical standpoint, who would walk into a Casa Del Habano and call the cOPPs if someone is smoking? Or doesn't it work that way? Are you all are just law-abiding people?

'By-Law' here is something to be feared. Infractions for smoking in stores is serious shite. While not quite reverse onus, a single complaint call to by-law will cause the establishment to be ticketed - up to them to disprove in court. I got busted in my grocery store humidor by 'by-law' who, at the time, was also with the health inspector. The complaint arose because someone thought I was under 25, I'm in my late 30's.

Re: Questions about Toronto Canada

Anti-smoking laws are such that retailers are not even allowed to display tobacco products. At a nearby B&M you're not allowed to go into their walk-in humidor anymore. You tell the person what you want and she goes and gets it for you! (?)

Unhappy Re: Questions about Toronto Canada

Here in Arkansas we have the Tobacco Police. They recruit under age teens to enter establishments and attempt to purchase cigarettes or other tobacco products. If you are unfortunate enough to sell to them Your Busted, Hefty fine!!!!!!!!!!!! Two or more subsequent violation and they will revoke your license.

Yep!! That just happened to me today. Went to the local B&M today to pick up a few cigars for the weekend. Walked into the store and asked if I could view some cigars (the humidor is always locked)...request denied!!! I thought the new legislation was just for displaying cigarettes and tobacco products out in the open...but surely if I'm going into a humidor I would be able to view the products I wished to purchase. Nope...turns out that no one is even allowed to look at the stuff any more.

Weird!
