Question Sir Scott Pipe

Hey guys, I'm slightly new to the world of pipe smoking. Being originally from the Dominican Republic, I've managed to come across a lot of interesting information and advice from family members who've been in the tobacco business.

I recently purchased a really really strange pipe, a Sir Scott. It's got the oddest filter-thing I've seen so far. Do you guys know what exactly this thing is or how it should be cleaned or what? I can't remove it and it's attached to the mouthpiece.

Here's a link to a youtube video in which "thesmokeshop" seems to have a similar pipe but with the 'stabber filter' attached to the shank. He shows it at minute 7:00 and he shows what he calls a 'weapon' at minute 7:40.

If you guys know anything about this, how one can clean it, or really anything, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute myself at soe point

Re: Sir Scott Pipe

I've got a similar one that Alyks just gave me. It dont think it comes out. It helps block loose tobacco or gurgle from entering the stem. I just stick a pipe cleaner in the mouthpiece a couple times and gently wipe off the metal piece with a tissue or something. works fine for me.

Re: Sir Scott Pipe

It is referred to as a stinger. In some pipe models it can be screwed out, a lot cannot be. I have found that a pipe cleaner can fit through the holes, usually. Otherwise it is like stated above, clean the bit as well as possible and wipe off the stinger.

Another potential option is to cut it off (as long as it is not a screw type that is used to attach the bit to the stem)
