Question Savinelli VS. GBD

Hello folks, I'd like to buy a new pipe and I've narrowed my choices down to two:

GBD International
and

Savinelli Canadian bit Straight Grain 803KS

I'd like to get your input as to which pipe I should be purchasing. I've found them for the roughly the same price. Which of the two is better quality and so forth. Thanks.

Re: Savinelli VS. GBD

The Savinelli I have is one of my best smokers next to my Neerup.

Never smoked out of a GBD but they do look real nice.

The Savinelli is one of the bigger ones they make I think. KS means King Size?

Re: Savinelli VS. GBD

honestly i'm not impressed w/the quality of GBD's since they were taken over by the Cadogan group (somewhere in the 80's i think)-on the other hand, the only pipe i have that i purchases new is a Sav Antique Shell (the black blasted version)-it smokes as well or better than an A/R Caminetto i have, think i paid $35 for it-draw your own conclusions, but my money's on the Sav

Re: Savinelli VS. GBD

I have 2 GBD and 1 Sav - all three pipes purchased as lightly used, late model estates and all 3 are wonderful smokers. Fit and finish are all great and I really could not recommend any of them over another, as far as quality goes.

I think you might very well want to go by size/looks/price on this one

Re: Savinelli VS. GBD

One big Sav in my line up - smokes just right.
One older ebay GBD zulu - smokes just right.

Hope this was helpful.

Re: Savinelli VS. GBD

They're both fine pipes.
I'd narrow it down by draw and design. What fits the hand best.
I am limited to mostly pre 80's GBD. I like the GBD line.
Some Savs I have I don't care for as much.
You'll be good to go with either.

Only have two Sav's (see my latest video, they're great) but I love the 'straight honest talking' look of GBD's.
