1. Tins to try and, when stellar, several more to age.
2. Bulk whenever possible, into Mason jars; I pouch, baggie or tin my carrying around stuff.
3. Local blend(s): Just one. 6Virginias from Pipe&Pint (Greensboro) into Mason jars.

If I bought bulk McClelland I'd store it in old ketchup bottles to add to that special "je ne sais quoi" something.

When given a choice I always go with tins. I find them easier to store and like the label art as well.

Is your main smoke in bulk? Is it a local mix?

I guess I am still searching for "my" mixes.

Depending on your B&M, you may not be satisfied by your purchases because the selection is weighted heavily towards what the owner prefers. I find that to be the case with the 8 or so local shops I visit in the Nashville area. Each one's bulk collection reflects the personal favorites of the owner or key employees. But, with the number of local shops I frequent I can find pretty much anything I'm looking for. Of the 20+ different tobaks I have in my collection currently I only have 2 local mixes. Orient Express from the Nashville Arcade and Country Road (very sweet aromatic, not something I'd ever imagine liking) from Tobacco Road.

I imagine you will find tinned tobak you end up liking more than bulks. There's a convenience factor, the tinned stuff obviously appeals to a wider audience, and bulk seems to be a long term commitment that personally I don't want to make. I like 95% of what's in my collection but not any one blend so much so that I want to hoard a large quantity of it.

Hope this helps

Tins with the exception of my local B&M's house blend.

Re: Little poll: Tins or Bulk?

Little bit of both. In all, I tend to lean toward bulk purchases as it's cheaper overall. I don't need a flashy box for the tobacco to make me like it any more or less. I will buy tins though, as I've probably got 20 or more on the shelf, but most of mine are 2oz or more bulk purchases. If I find something I really like, I'll do bulk purchases of 5+ oz to keep me happy for a little while.
