To put it bluntly, it is the very essence of cool. It is what cool aspires to be.

Trust me. Practice your pointing. Try all the techniques mentioned. You'll find amusement, giddiness, frustration, and anger. And then one day, when you least expect it, you'll find yourself in a situation that just BEGS a pipe point and you'll do it without a conscious thought. Women will swoon, babies will cease their crying and grown men will stand in awe of you. I picked up my first corncob last week....hey, this pipe smokin bidness is pretty cool and tasty. I'm working on four tobacco samples and am enjoying 'em all. But it is true.....pointing with a corncob is just futile. Don't even try it or think about it. But the more snooty (and expensive) bent pipe I picked up today....makes a world of difference.
