Just a quick question for the vets. Does the rubber tobacco room in a pouch give or recieve smell/taste? I plan on using it for different genre of tobacco VA/english/aromatics. Its a Dunhill Flap Companion

Re: Tobacco pouch
One pouch for each tobacco. Or you could do it cheaper and just use ziploc bags.

Re: Tobacco pouch
Just be sure the pouch or bag liner is indeed rubber. It will keep the tobacco freshest the longest and will impart very little or no smell. If changing tobacco blends, prop the bag open for a couple of days and any lingering smells will be gone.

Re: Tobacco pouch
Oh so it was a great reply because that is what you wanted to hear? Go ahead and try it. My experience is that the smell never ever quite goes away.

Re: Tobacco pouch
after much deliberation I find putting it is a same size zip-it best, I sourced some of these bags recently, and I alway have a few blends in them, so when I go out I just pop one or two in the leather pouch, whatever baccy I'm in the mood for.
The problem with the pouch is not the rubber, but the leather, it takes years for it's smell to go away from a new pouch. |

Re: Tobacco pouch
If you keep your tobacco in a small 50g tin it will always stay fresher than a zip lock bag or a tobacco pouch

Re: Tobacco pouch
There is some lingering odor from other tobaccos in my experience but it was never enough for me to worry about. Just maybe wipe it out with a damp paper towel and let it dry a bit before switching to another tobacco.

Double foldover rubber lined pouches (leather or vinyl on the outside makes no difference) keep baccy moist better and longer. Single fold are OK for a day. Zipper or snap closing pouches will dry your stuff out real fast (depending on the weather, of course), don't bother with this kind, use a ziplock baggie instead.

Re: Tobacco pouch
Sony HandyCam bag and a Sears insulated lunchbag. Stout, padded, cheap.
