If you try it and it doesn't do the job, bill me for the tin and pass it to a new(er)guy.
Interesting... in my attempt to find baccy, I found only a couple here in Ontario. One was a aromatic from Brigham, the other was the flake you mentioned. Still trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do with it...

Don't overlook Va/Pers blends. For me, they're Virginnias on 'roids. It's like comparing wings with mild sauce to wings with hot sauce....adds that little bit extra!! YUM!!!

I'm especially enthusiastic about GLP Haddo's Delight and SG's James Flake right now...truly enjoying the Virginnia SG's Best Brown Flake, as well. These are probably my three go-to blends of recent.

The little green silhouette-guy on the label is giving you a clue, Donnie. Hint: it has not to do with a Norfolk jacket and tweed cap.

You can add three more to the list:

McCranie's Red Ribbon -- outstanding tobacco!
Rattray Old Gowrie
Cornell & Diehl Opening Night

This thread got me in the mood to smoke some Hal O the Wynd.

I've been packing it like a bong, no wonder it won't stay lit.

Pack?! Did you say, "pack?" Packed pipes are hard to draw and they won't stay lit.

Fill. Fill a pipe.

Pack a bag; pack a lunch; pack a punch.

Fill a pipe.

This is the new way at forums everywhere.

To keep the cattle at bay - the Bureau of Tobacco Briar and Flammables (BTBF) recommends you use the term "Moo your pipe". Pack has been abolished from the BTBF handbook.

Most virginias will bite, its just their nature. A stoved (cooked) virginia may be called a Cavendish, but the process kills some of the flavor (albeit solving the bite). When moo-ing your pipe with any real VA blend, be sure to moo it correctly to avoid oral agony. Don't moo it too tight, or the airflow will get obstructed requiring you to suck real hard, making the fire hotter and bite-ier. Don't moo too loose, or baccy bits won't touch each other cleanly and won't burn evenly (or at all), also causing you to suck hard and make Virginia angry and hot, bite bite bite. Keep in mind that flake (pressed) baccy will expand when it lights up, keep these blends a wee bit looser when you moo the pipe.

Note that aging a VA blend will dramatically improve its flavor, as well as tame the bite. If one has the patience (or deep pockets) to age/obtain a vintage VA blend, moo-ing it and lighting up is a sublime experience.

And remember, moo your pipe pack is a no-no.

One of the "safest" VA's is the Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake - it is a pressed flake and they stove it a bit, I think, cuz it don't bite but still tastes yummy.

I was actually looking into Opening Night. But again, I'm very cautious to buy an entire tin of something i've never tried. So if anyone wants to send a single flake my way, i'll gladly return the favor.
