pipe addiction

I just got my first pipe other than a corncob yesterday from ssutton (thanks again Shawn) today I am thinking of ordering two more http://www.iwanries.com/IRC_Exclusiv...l_P2297C28.cfm and http://www.iwanries.com/Peterson_Ste..._P7580C111.cfm
I can see this hobby being as expensive as cigars.

It can absolutely be as expensive, but at least you have durable items left to show for it

Re: pipe addiction

Short term yeah just as expensive...long term no where as close. The pipes can last a life time and the tobacco per use cost is so much cheaper.

Glad you are enjoying this ride Dan!

Re: pipe addiction

Yes initially there's some outlay to acquire a rotation of pipes, but once you've got that taken care of the cost isn't even comparable. Pipe smoking is a tiny fraction of what cigars cost. And as said above those pipes will last MANY years if not a lifetime if properly maintained. They become old friends that eventually have memories you associate with them and perhaps life events or holidays etc. That's what I like about pipes. Some of mine I've had since the early 80's and they're as enjoyable now as they ever were.

Welcome to pipe smoking!

Re: pipe addiction

A box of cigars won't last forever when a pipe has the potential to.

Re: pipe addiction

At least after a blissful smoke, you can do it again (or just sit and drool over a favorite pipe )
