Re: Light flake vs mild blend
Speaking for myself, I don't really understand what you're asking. By "mild blend" do you mean virginia blend... like a blend of light and dark, perhaps stoved virginias? And by "light flake" do you mean light in color or taste? Do you have specific tobaccos that you're trying to contrast?
I think more info is needed, which may be why you haven't received any responses. |

Re: Light flake vs mild blend
To me light flake refers to the colour of the virginias being used. In the case of Dunhill it uses yellow and orange virginias as opposed to red or stoved. yellow and orange virginias tend to be more bitey and citrusy, or at least that's what I've found. I have no idea what a mild blend may be I suppose it could mean just about anything

I don't think either blend is super mild. The light flake is lighter in color and the Mild flake is darker. When they both were blended in the UK, they were a bit soapy. More so, in the MF. To me the light flake has a more natural flavor/aroma. The LF can be a little bitey, the MF IMO is not at all. The Honey Aroma in the MF fades a bit, but is present throughout the smoke. If you've had MaC Baren honeyed blends, imagine that flavor done in a Lakeland blending house, intertwined in soapiness. ![]() |

Re: Light flake vs mild blend
The honey (in Mild Blend) is 100% casing but the natural VA flavor is present throughout the smoke...BTW i typed MF when of course it should have been MB (mild blend).
There are a ton of blending houses doing VA's well and i probably wouldn't choose either one of these blends. However, if i did it would be the mild smoking, unique flavor and aroma of MB. ![]() |
