a newbie pipe smoker's tip of the day....

So it had been a few days since I have been able to smoke a bowl, so tonight faced with a hour long drive home from dropping off my nephew I had for the weekend, with no tunes (some ass hat stole my stereo last week) I thought maybe I will try and pass the time driving with a good smoke. I had been wanting to try out one of my new estate pipes I got from ebay last week so I brought one along. Dropped Nephew off, loaded a bowl, lighted it and hit the freeway. Amazingly it stayed lit for quite a while. My new pipe was smoking great! So I am not to far from home, enjoying the ride, when all of the sudden Plop! out comes the pipe out of my mouth, DOH! Hot ash everywhere! Oops! Ouch! I guess I haven't graduated from sitting my ass in a chair and doing nothing else while smoking a pipe!!!

Tip/Moral of story...
DON'T DROP THE DAM THING, especially when doing 70 MPH!!! lol

Welcome to the club! LOL! I've never actually "dropped" a pipe out of my mouth but a couple of time I put my hand up to either do the ol' finger tamp or to switch the pipe's position in my mouth, hit a bump in the road, and actually smacked the pipe right outta my teeth! I lost a Preben Holm Crown Matte pipe once that way. It flew out the window and I'm not one to play on the freeway, even to look for a nice pipe!

Ouch! Did the same thing with cigar ash that I let get to long on a drive. Actaully, have the Army nylon PT shorts I was wearing at the time with nice little holes.

I can empathize with a couple of my doh! moments.

I had nice long ash on a nubbed cigar while driving. Decided I was done with it. Tossed it out the window going ~50. Poof, explosion of ash in my face and all over the car! Haha, thankfully it wasn't hot or burning.

Another time, I was walking with a pipe smoking friend. I was introducing him to cigars and he was trying to walk and hold his stick in his mouth hands-free. Well, he dropped it, we had a good laugh about how he was a newbie. A couple of blocks later, I was walking with my cigar held in my mouth hands-free and opened my mouth to say "see, this is how it's done!" Plop goes my stogie.

I have come close with the pipe, but never dropped it. Just tossed ash everywhere while I fumbled for it.
