Chocolate as a palette cleanser...?

A buddy of mine told me to get some milk chocolate and let it melt in my mouth after a smoke to cleanse my palette. Does anybody else do this? Any particular reason? Any other palette cleansers out there?

I have done this recently and it works like a charm. Just a little bit of chocolate and dont bite it/eat it - just let it melt.

For me anyway it worked perfectly. And REALLY allowed me to taste my next cigar without still tasting the first one.

BTW welcome to CS!

Coke seems to get mentioned a lot.

Basically anything that gets saliva going and doesn't have a long finish - i.e. NO coffee, wine, mint gum, mouthwash! etc.

I know that when I smoke cigars, I drink an ice cold cherry coke and the cigar flavor makes the cherry coke taste a ton better.

I like a mug of hot tea after my pipe. Oolong or darjeeling are my favorites. My mouth and tongue feel fresh after that.

I like ice water personly. But I found that coke, and tea work realy well. Or go hard core and do what I do at partys and swish 151 or diesel (the liqor) around in your mouth.

So that the Latakia from the last bowl doesn't leave its taste on the straight viriginia you're about to fire up!

Re: Chocolate as a palette cleanser...?

tried it and the chocolate works pretty well...still a little "smoke" taste left, but not noticible by others...unless we're making out I guess...in which case my wife is the only one that would know...

I must agree that hot tea has always been the most satisfying beverage while smoking a pipe.

Re: Chocolate as a palette cleanser...?

Not only is it a good palette cleanser but many times various chocolates will enhance cigar flavors (the same as run, scotch, etc. do).

Give it a shot!
