Just bought a pipe & I know nothing about it

So...I won this pipe on eBay for $31 and I know nothing about it (I'm sure I am the first from this forum to do this).

It's a Durbar LHS pipe. Anyone ever own one, or know anything about it? It's got a rubber stem...that could be good and bad I guess. Just curious...

I happen to have a saveneli that looks identical.... and the only complaint I have is the bend in the stem makes it difficult to run a pipe cleaner through it.
This might just be my pipe and not a problem inherent to the design..

It looks like a Peterson system clone, complete with P-lip. I wouldn't worry about the "Hard Rubber" (which isn't what it says on the pipe, it says solid rubber, the auctioneer got it wrong), that almost certainly just means vulcanite. I couldn't find anything about it on pipephil.eu, but look here. You might try emailing Mr. Clark and seeing if he found anything else out about his pipe. At least it seems like a possibility that it's pretty old, and that could be good.

The silver hallmarks should give you a pretty solid date for the pipe, but I don't know what they mean, sorry. Someone on here surely has a book of hallmarks and can look it up for you, or you can dig around online. I found this site here, but didn't look too into it, beyond noticing the anchor may mean Birmingham. Looks like an anchor, a star and a little man (hi little man!).

Looks like it's got a military bit, and it looks to be in pretty good shape, depending on how the bowl looks inside.

I have a Peterson that's almost identical to your new pipe, including the finish and style of stem and everything. I really don't like it very much... it's tiny, and the walls of the bowl are very thin, and it smokes hot and uneven. I'm not saying you'll have these problems, especially if your pipe is bigger, which by the measurements provided it is. Hope I didn't make you worry with my doomsaying...

The hallmarks, especially the anchor, indicate that it is a Peterson.

that didn't look like "LMS", it looked like "LHS" to me.

Its not a Peterson. Its an L&H Stern. Its like a Grabow, Kaywoodie, Yello Bole .....................

I have an LHS pipe. It's a Gaylord. I gotta say it's a great smoking pipe and I've been happy with it. Your Durbar does look like somewhat of a Peterson clone.

Prediction: you're gonna like it. I enjoy (to at least some extent) even my crappy junk pipes. Welcome to the jungle and hope to see you rattling around in here from time to time.

Yeah, I was able to discern that it read LHS and not LMS like the add said, but I still couldn't find much online. Gonna do some more research based on the information ya'll have been posting!
