Tinder Box Tobacco
Just wondering where tinder box tobacco rates with the experts here. My brother lives close to a store so any gift tobacco usually comes from a tinder box. Wilshire was actually the first tobacco I smoked from a pipe, so it has a sentimental value to it, and I've also tried black russian (not bad) and after dinner (not great).

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
I tried their Philospher which was very good. It is an English Blend. The one person I spoke with was very knowlegable. He said that was the only good blend that they carried at their store. However it looks like they have a large selection on their website. They did carry bulk Dunhill at the one I went too.

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
Reserve 1928 is delightful. A very mild, very creamy aromatics that i would recommend picking up. They have also said that North Sea and Sherlock's Choice are among of their top sellers. For an Englishy blend, try Special.

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
Since you ask for an experts opinion, you may just want to overlook my response. But I have a two Tinderbox's in my town, great folks and lots of nice cigars, and nice pipes. But the tobacco selection is fairly small, they have 10-12 bulk blends, and a just few Tins. The bulk blends I've tried are just so-so most have been the aromatics I tried when I first picked up the pipe, one that I tried and liked is "Sherlock's Choice" this is another bulk blend.
Have you tried any of the "drugstore" brands ??? some arent to bad... |

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
I tried half a dozen tinder box aromatics, and could only tolerate norse gold. Everything else bit my tongue and made me sneeze
Reserve 1928 is excellent, as is the special blend. Very nice tobacco. |

Tenderbox does sell some Peter Stokkebye and McClelland bulks, probably others also.

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
Have to give the 1928 a try. So far TB blends are just ok to me. I'll still smoke what I got... and will get. Thanks for the input, I was not not sure if these blends were considered premium or not. As of late I've been diving in to the world of tins and a few Boswell tobaccos.

Re: Tinder Box Tobacco
I'll do TinderBox as well for a little bit simply because it's the only tobacco shop we have in town or at least relatively close to where I live. They'll carry a tin or 2 of premium blends but don't offer a very large selection (2 weeks ago they had a tin of Perfection, tin of Christmas Cheer 07, Tin of Skiff Mixture, couple bulk Dan blends, and bulk Devil's Holiday). I mentioned earlier that North Sea was one of their popular aromatics, and while i have some tinned up I haven't gotten around to it. I guess the three I would suggest are a must try:
Reserve 1928 - personal experience Special - reviews and recommendations Sherlock's Choice - reviews and recommendations There was also one other blend they make that they were completely out of and said was their top seller. I wish i could remember the name (maybe Norse Gold?) Honestly, you can't really go wrong w/ Boswell blends. A few of their "sweeter" blends (Sweet Dreams, Berry Cobbler, Dutch Treat, etc) are all EXCELLENT... but for me they cross paths a little. By that I mean they all have that fruity "note" to them that's somewhat universal, but it's a quality and natural one. Though I personally can tell the difference b/t Berry Cobbler and Dutch Treat as Dutch Treat has a distinct, monochromatic cherry fruit note which is wonderful.
