New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Greetings all,
I found my way here by watching DubintheDam's Youtube videos (great stuff). Glad to be part of an online group. I just took up pipe smoking about two weeks ago. I purchased a Peterson's System 315, and I've got a Peterson Killarney (05) Dublin bent on the way. As an Irish literature professor, I find great pleasure in smoking a Peterson. I hope to add many to my collection. At the moment I'm smoking Sunset Breeze tobacco, but am also looking for something cherry. My wife insists that the smoke smells good, otherwise I'll be outside in the cold. Any suggestions? I see Mac Baren has a cherry ambrosia, is it any good, and will it pass the wife test? Thanks in advance. And DubintheDam, thanks for all the great Youtube work. Best, MS |

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
There's a berry/cherry flavor in Devil's Holiday. Room note rates high with the women in my house, and it's not a bad smoke to boot!

I'd guess the MacBaren would be a good blend. Also you might check out Gawith Hoggarth Black Cherry Twist, a rope that has a mild cherry flavor and a nice (non-cherry) roomnote. Welcome to CS

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Another good one is Celtic Talisman. It has a cherry liqueur type of flavor but you can still taste the tobacco and the room aroma is pleasant as well. Best of all a tin will set you back all of about seven bucks online.

Boswells cherry smash is good too. Better just save time and order all their tobaccos.

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Welcome to CS! Now, I don't smoke many aromatic blends, so I don't have any advice to offer in that regard. I was wondering where you teach in St Louis? I am a student at Wash U.

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Stokkebye makes a very nice blend simply called "Cherry." The flavor is mildly of cherries and the room note matches the name quite well. It often gets a bit of praise from people walking into the b&m here whenever a nonsmoker catches a whiff of it.

Try Watch City Cigars' 'Bada-Bing' it has a bit of Perique added for a little additional interest. Has more of a sour cherry taste that I really like.

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Devils Holiday is quite good for an aromatic. What surprised me even more is that it hardly had any tongue bite.

Churchill's of Birmingham { detroit } has a terrific cherry/vanilla
called Tenth Anniversary" http://www.churchillsltd.com/index.php/cPath/23_167 1-248-647-4555 The best recommendation I could pass on is that 35 years ago my Mom would let me smoke it in her house |

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
Welcome,
I haven't tried any of the above, but I like Lane's TK-6, it burns good and smells good and tastes .. .. good. For a non-cherry try "Trout Stream" from pipesandcigars.com, it smells like butterscotch!

Re: New to the Club looking for Cherry aromatic
All, thanks for the great suggestions. I've settled on Boswell's PDT (and picked up some berry cobbler while at it). I'm now on to finding a good English for something a bit more complex. I really dig the peat fire aroma of a Latakia, so I'm thinking about trying an oz of Penzance, Westminster, and 965.
