anyone else get that silky, buttery sensation from Latakia?
I've noticed lately, since i've been smoking Latakia blends on occasion, that I get this wonderful, butter taste whenever I'm smoking them. The smoky characteristic is still there for sure, but in a "butter" kinda way if that makes sense. I've noticed it w/ SG Perfection, Nightcap, and Frog Morton.

If you like latakia, you need to smoke some of this.

Maybe salted butter like on popcorn. At the beginning of a bowl of GLP Westminster, however, I get a pleasant soapy taste.

![]() Oh forgot to even answer the question lol. Yea I've noticed the same thing. Funny you mentioned nightcap because the first time I smoked it the smoke had such a thickness to it I almost thought I could drink it I've also noticed the same thing in blends that are a little heavier on the orientals though so I'm kinda torn between whether it's the latakia or the orientals, and I've never really gotten it from Commonwealth which is 50/50 va and lat so well yea... I've confused myself so much now I think I need to go do some "homework" on this outside for an hour or two lol. |

Moo I'd sure like to know where you come up with your photos.
OP - No I don't get that from latakia but sometimes I get that creamy buttery taste from perique.

I get a smoothness similar to cream, but I don't really associate it with butter per se. To me its kinda like a combination of scotch and well oiled old leather.

Yum. Latakia. Aromas of smokey oak&peat scotch, old leather and a progressively deeper, sweeter tar and creosote taste when you get near the bottom of the barrel. Head and shoulders above the Twining's Irish Breakfast tea. ![]()

I haven't been able to describe the Latakia flavor yet, but one thing is for sure...
I CRAVE it! ![]()
