McClelland's Christmas Cheer
so i stopped by my local B&M to see about some Christmas Cheer (ended with another pipe too), and he had tins of 2003, 2004 and 2005. What is your favorite? Any differences between the years? I picked up a tin of 2004, per his recommendation.
What are your thoughts? Matt

Re: McClelland's Christmas Cheer
The only one I've tried is 2003. (earlier today)
I ordered some more before I finished the bowl. ![]() I will have four tins of 2003. My three tins of 2008 can wait a few years. |

Re: McClelland's Christmas Cheer
What I was told was that the 2005 came from a very good crop year !
I'm still to much of a noobie to tell any differences, It was an awesome smoke, and different from the 2008, maybe just a little sweeter.

Re: McClelland's Christmas Cheer
My thoughts are, it's all pretty darn good if you favor the slightly tangy virginia profile. I'ved had a couple of the years you mention but have smoked mostly '06 this year (very nice). I never heard anyone (who liked the profile to begin with) say they smoked some CC and it sucked. The flavors in any new can are pretty discrete and they do benefit from time to merge and soften. That said, I am now smoking some '08 and, after sitting unsealed a for a week or two, flavor turned quite nice. Current stuff shows list of $17.00/100grams (JR at $10.95 before freight).
Sealed aged tins sold on ebay appreciate predictably. What's your guy charging for them? ![]()

Re: McClelland's Christmas Cheer
That seems fair for sealed CC, 2003, 2004 and 2005. I think many here would grab it up and hide it in the basement.
