Just bit the bullet!

Well, a month ago I bought a corn cob and some cheap tobacco to see if I liked it, since I like cigars. I then decided I ought to upgrade. I chose to take a chance by buying a pound of tobacco some folks recommended without trying it.

So I tried out my new Lane 1Q through my new Savinelli pipe, and I love it! I feels great, tastes wonderful and I didn't have to do any relighting!

Re: Just bit the bullet!

Well, cool! 1-Q was my first bowl of non-drugstore tobacco. I went into a pipe shop for the first time with my EA Carey pipe and my pouch of Captain Black Royal sticking out of my shirt pocket, was given some 1-Q to try and the rest is history!

Welcome to the flock! Interestingly, I bought a new cob pipe today. Still a nice neutral smoke - by neutral, I mean the pipe imparts no flavor of its own, unlike briar - and I can leave 'em in the car outside in the weather with no worries. I think they smoke pretty well.

Nice looking pipe there. Another for my "to buy" list. Glad to see you're sticking with it.

Way to go. Great combo. I have the same Sav. It was my first gifted pipe.

Re: Just bit the bullet!

Surprisingly enough, 1-Q just didn't cut it for me when i tried it. In fact, i dumped the bowl after the 1st half because it wasn't clicking w/ me. I'm not sure what it was, but it just had a "worse-than-the-Captain" chemical taste to it. BCA is the only blend I tolerate from Lane... i'm sorry, did i say "tolerate"? I meant to say "LOVE". S'yeah! Get some.

I think my one and only local B&M carries BCA under their own name, Jim's Blend. I've read that a lot of B&Ms carry Lane's blends but often renamed. Jim's/BCA is my GF's favorite room note. Sorry, was until I broke open the MacB Vanilla Creme.

It's been several years ago, but the last I heard 1-Q was the best selling pipe tobacco in America. I've never been in a pipe shop that didn't carry it, usually under a different name.
