Re: Tim West

I saw those too, was wondering about them.

The logo is very primitive, like someone used a dremel to inscribe them.

My Tim West sidewalker has the double square with Tim west pipes stamped in the top square. (200

The 3 Tim West sidewalkers I'm bidding on from 06 have a 6 point star around Tim West

Does he change his logo every year ?

Tom

Re: Tim West

You could email him and ask. I'm sure he'd be interested if they were fakes. I was thinking I heard once that his early work was pretty primitive but I could be thinking of someone else.

Re: Tim West

i've emailed him a # of times back when i needed a replacement stem on one of his pipes i owned.

he's been making pipes for a long while now, and i'm pretty sure that those pipes would have to be very old for those to be his earliest works (and i doubt he'd put something out like that - JMHO).

made me look this up.

Re: Tim West

this is a lousy pic, but here's a TW i have:

what you can't see is that the logo is like the one in the first link. i have emailed Tim about my pipe, he remembered it & gave an approximation of when it was made. if i had to guess, i'd say the pieces on Ebay very well could be authentic.

Re: Tim West

Thanks for the link IHT, the article said all his pipes were stamped Tim West, so the inscribed 2 in question, really may be bogus !

I'm glad the 3, sidewalkers on I'm bidding on, at ebay are from Tim West, himself.

Re: Tim West

his early work he DID scribe into the wood. i've had one, and a buddy of mine owned about 10 (was a big fan of his large freehand sitters).
but the quality of those in the photo don't look like anything he'd put out.
