No more monkey business!?

I was looking forward to be pack leader or sumthin...

Anyway, I´m always experimenting, as I´m sure most here are. And I´ve found that smoking Marlin Flake fresh out of the tin w o any drying makes it bite less (not at all in fact). I have to use plenty of pipe cleaners, but It sure smokes dry and all to the bottom! I dont smoke this baccy in my filter pipe, the flavour is too mild...

How many pipe cleaners do you use normally for a medium bowl (any tobacco)?

Re: No more monkey business!?

I rarely use a pipe cleaner while smoking,I do tilt the pipe to let whatever drain out on a tissue if ever needed.

I had a problem with some cleaners leaving a little cotton ball? in the pipe and I end up smoking it. So, I just let it drain natural like.

Re: No more monkey business!?

I normally use one pipe cleaner - both ends so I'm sticking a pipe cleaner in twice during an hour's smoke. I use the thin cleaners so as not to leave the little cotton plug Yellowgoat mentioned. But the pipe cleaner isn't always to soak up moisture. Sometimes during a smoke, the tobacco will "settle" at the bottom of the bowl and reduce the air supply. I use the cleaner to open things back up.

what he said.
i use 1 per bowl. if i feel a little gurgle about to happen, i get a thin cleaner and run one through there. before i do, i take the cleaner and use my fingers to try and loosen up any potential cotton plugs, like getting all the loose fluff off before it's used.
also, in case a piece of baccy settles and blocks the draught hole, gotta have one available for that.

after it's all done, i run a cleaner through (after the dottle/ash is dumped) the stem to the bowl, then bend the cleaner in half and use the bend end to clean out the bowl.
