Tip for tobaccoreviews.com

This thread was inspired by another one. If you find a tobacco that you really like and are looking for another with similar ingredients you simple select your tobacco and at the top of the page select similar.

For Instance you are looking for VaPer's find and select something like Escudo then select Find Similar, this will bring you to a list of many other blends with the same or similar ingredients. I just discovered this option the other day.

Re: Tip for tobaccoreviews.com

Thanks for the useful tip! I think this must be a new feature?

I tried it with my favorite - C & D's 417P Night Train, which is a Va/Per/Burley. "Similar tobacco" number 3 is Lamb Cake Slices!!! Also similar is Exhausted Rooster, which I will have to get hold of.

A number of good balkans are recommended as similiiar to "Larry's Blend" another of my favorites. Caravan is on the list and I think I'll put it in the buying queue.

Nifty!

Re: Tip for tobaccoreviews.com

here's another tip:
if you know the reviewer hates certain types of blends, don't read the review or ratings.
would you read a food critics review of the latest taco joint if he openly states he hates Mexican food? me either.

Re: Tip for tobaccoreviews.com

IHT, of course Lamb Cake Slices is an April Fools Day blend, but I think its funny it comes up as similar to anything! I would like to know what criteria the site is using.

I for one take all reviews with a grain of salt and ignore crank reviews and reviews from people who don't share my preferences. Fortunately tobaccoreviews doesn't have too many spiteful reviewers, unlike Top25 with folks rating Exclusivos a "2".

Re: Tip for tobaccoreviews.com

In relation to the criteria at which the site rates them as similar I have to assume that they go completely on ingredients and maybe blender notes. I doubt they use any reviews as they may be to subjective and it doesn't look to me to be that sophisticated, but you never know. Glad I could help and I'm surprised so many people didn't know about this.
