splitting my tabac between pipes

I have the following tins and their associated blends as posted in tobaccoreviews. Would the two lists be a good split between two pipes or do some need to be juxtaposed? What do you all recommend!?!

C&D Briar Fox – Virginia
McClelland Christmas Cheer 2007 - Virginia
Robert McConnel Scottish Cake – Virginia
Rattray’s Old Gowrie – Virginia

McClelland Frog Morton – Virginia, Latakia
CAO Midnight Ride – Virginia, Latakia, Perique, Oriental
Dunhill Nightcap – Virginia, Latakia, Perique
Esoterica Penzance - Virginia, Turkish, Orientals, Latakia
Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader – Virginia, Latakia, Turkish

I'd say that's good, one for latak, one for VA....don't smoke the pipes more than twice a day, keep them very clean...and you might get by without souring a pipe....each pipe once a day is best.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

looks good to me. i seperate my pipes like this:
VA
VA/Per
burley
Bur/Per
english
oriental
rope

occasionally i'll find a blend that i like so much i'll dedicate a pipe or 2 for it, of course these are few & far between. when i had 10 pipes or less i didn't get quite as specific either. now w/30+ i have that luxury.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

Wharfrathoss basically said it. The scottish Cake is a Va/Per, and I feel like there's a little ghosting between Va and Va/Per; so I'd have it in a third pipe if at all possible. The latakia ones I belive are fine; haven't had the Midnight Ride, but the other 4 i've smoked all in the same pipe multiple times.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

Thanks so much for the help guys! I only have one pipe, so now I have a better idea of what I need and how to split these up.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

Penzance, one of my faves, can be a freight train of flavor; I am happy to keep a pipe or two exclusive for Pez smoking. Not essential but it's a nice option if you have a regular Pez jones.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

I usually have a pipe dedicated to straight virginias, then one for VaPer's and so on. I have a pipe for heavy Latakia blends and other for the english and oriental blends. For two pipes what you have will work fine but don't smoke them more than once in 24 hours to help prevent souring and keep those babies smoking well.

I agree with what has been said. Also I want to mention that adding a couple cobs to your rotation might be beneficial here. They don't really ghost and you can smoke as many bowls a day as you want with one.

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

All good advice above. But if you are so inclined to add a 3rd pipe for VA/Per (per Uncle Ballzer) and a 4th pipe for blends that are less Latakia-heavy such as Panzance and Squadron Leader. If you smoke the other Lat blends a lot in that one pipe and then do a sporadic Penzance, much of it's beauty and nuance could be lost.

Otherwise, well done

Re: splitting my tabac between pipes

Awesome input guys...looks like I will be picking up 4-5 pipes and understand the division of blends a little better. My single pipe has been used for aromatics and switching to non-aro has not worked with the ghosting - as you guys probably know. I will probably pick up another briar and some cobs to move forward.
