Tinned Baccy......aroma ?

Is the Aroma of the tinned tobacco indicative of the flavor of the smoking tobacco ?

What I guess I'm asking is, Does the tobacco taste like it smells ?

Now the reason, I got the MB Plumcake in yesterday, and returned the MB roll cake, upon opening, the Plumcake had a aroma close to the Fox & Hound, something I really don't care for.

I've smoked Perique before straight, and that leads me to believe the offending smell is the Latkia.

What I'm looking for in a pipe tobacco is, something light, flavored, with a great room note to it.

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Tom

That's kind of a tricky question. Sometime it taste very close to the tin aroma and sometimes it taste nowhere near the tin aroma.

I have smoked the MCB Plumcake, and I didn't get any of the Latakia flavor in the smoke. If I did, it was very minimal and I didn't taste it. But every persons tastes are different.

I know this answer sucks, but I'm learning that it sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. For example, the few VA's I've smoked smelled really sweet (literally) in the tin. Once I packed, and lit...it was just as sweet.

Alot of the SG latakia's blends I've smoked have been the same.

Now the Vanillia creme I smoked (McBarens) smelled great in the tin, but was lack luster when I lit it.

I'm in the same boat. I really enjoy SG blends (English). I find them Med-full bodied and flavorful; smokey and mild spice. I smoke outside so I don't gain the same appreciation for room note but I would guess they would be pleasing since I occassionally get a hint.

As far as Aromatics....I don't have much experience in that area yet. But I think it's touch and go with those...at least according to the phone conversations I've had with Bob.

I went ahead and smoked a bowl of this, and although not as offensive as the Fox & Hound, its not one I'd likely to smoke again.

I'm going to use the Vacume food saver to seal this one up.

Sucks I'm out nearly $20 only to find out I don't care for it.

Man that hurts. With it relatively re-sealed again it should hold for a good while. Maybe readdress it again down the road? I know my preferances for cigars change frequently so I'm assuming pipe 'baccy is the same.
