Out for Much Needed Smoke
|
Re: "A Pipe To Die For"; A Unique Perspective, (Long).
Sorta like the Jerry Maguire of pipe smoking. But as everyone's said and I have to agree, it does raise some good points. I was talking to my mom the other night and she made the comment that I've spent more on pipes in the past few months than my great grandpa did in his entire lifetime and he smoked a pipe for the vast majority of it. When he died what he left was 2 pipes- an old briar that cost about 10 dollars at the most and a cob. Both of those were the first pipes he'd ever smoked and the only pipes he'd ever owned according to my great grandma. There's somebody that really values what they have, even a cob that most consider disposable. Cleaned them when it needed it and left it alone when it didn't. Found two he loved and stuck with them. Of course he would fall in to the "smoker" category and definately not the "collector" realm. Maybe I'm a little sentimental because I just watched John McCain deliver an incredible speach and I'm a little moved or something, but this whole article really meant a lot to me in reminding me of my great grandpa who I was never fortunate enough to meet but know that he was indeed great man and an avid pipe smoker himself.

I need a beer

Re: "A Pipe To Die For"; A Unique Perspective, (Long).
I've recently realized that I have enough pipes to start dedicating them to certain blends exclusively. Might try this with my Scottish Cake pipe and my Best Brown pipes.
Both blends burn fairly clean anyway so there is usually very little clean up needed.
