Would you smoke it ... or ... ???
Now this is some vintage tobacco!
Straight from the late 40's or early 50's! Picked this up on ebay. Just couldn't pass it up. More for looks than anything, but I think it may even be smokable still!? What do you think? Has been in original plastic wrap for over 50 years! Only took it off because it was so brittle that it fell apart in shipping! Had to open a can to see what was inside. Remarkably well preserved! Check out the seals still intact over the plastic wrapped tobacco! Cool! ![]() And the neat little book that was in the box with it. Check out the prices! It even talked about thier clear Havana blending tobacco in there; so I know this was pre-embargo for sure! ![]() ![]() So ......... open one and try it? Or leave it alone and just look at how cool they are? |

You've got to try it just out of curiosity. How bad could it be? What does it smell like? Any moisture at all? If not, try humidifying it a little, then smoke a small bowl.

Re: Would you smoke it ... or ... ???
Cool.
I can say it's up to you. Me on the other hand, i would because art is made to be looked at and tobacco is made to be smoked. Given this, smoke up and if its good, enjoy to the last but if its ass, hey not many of us can say we will ever smoke 60 year old weed. |

Smoke it, just to say you did.
If it was kept in a good enviorment it should be just like a cigar. It should get better with age.

Re: Would you smoke it ... or ... ???
Check with one of the pipe uber guru's about rehumidification and give it a shot. I was told once .. just sprinkle a bit of distilled on it and toss in a baggie for a day.
Let us know how it smoked. |

Dave, Dave, Dave. In up to our eyeballs arent we. I would say give it a go. Like Klugs said, a lil distilled water in a baggy or jar should cure any dryness. As far as taste, that will be told in the Subject line of your next post. Do let us know how it turns out.

Re: Would you smoke it ... or ... ???
I don't even smoke a pipe, and I think that is way to cool! How can you not try it? You have to at least give it a shot!

Re: Would you smoke it ... or ... ???
I have some Dunhill Babys Bottom that was blended in the early 70's with tobacco from the 50's and it is one hell of a smooth smoke....
I also have several tin's that are 20+ Years old -ice |
