Step one: Aquire a pipe.

Step one completed.

We went to our storage unit today, and spent quite a bit of time digging and digging for the one specific unmarked box, that would house the pipe collection. I pilfered through the box, and here are a few pics of what I found. Sadly, I don't have room for the stands and ashtray with me on the road right now...maybe soon ( =

Most of these pipes are the ones that my grandfather smoked for years. A few are from local garage sales-my girl picked them up for me a few years back (when I had a smoking room...that I didn't smoke in). The final pipe-is one that I bought for my grandpa when I was 14, and on a trip in Ireland.

Thanks ( = I even found a pipe tool, and a pouch of tobacco that I bought in Baltimore about 4 years ago. I'm pretty sure all the temp changes in the storage unit probably did that pouch in ) = Hopefully I'll find time to get to a B&M soon, so I can grab a tin or two, and start following some tips from the 'ask a pipe guy' thread!

Nice score!!! Love the calabash pipe. My dad has one that he is going to give me. One thing that you might want to consider is taking them to a reputable tobacco shop and getting them thoroughly cleaned. Those greenish/yellow stems are supposed to be black. The color change is due to oxidation on the Lucite that the stem is made of. It tastes horrible and makes the pipe and the tobacco taste like crap!! The ones that are still black and the yellow stem on the meer (white pipe) should be good to go!

Thanks for the advice! Is there not a good way to give them a good cleaning myself? If it really is a pro's only thing, I understand, but I would get a lot of pride out of cleaning them up myself ( =
