A trip to my B&M for Pipe tobacco....

...was pretty much a disappointment. The one I like for cigars had only 4 jars of bulk, and now that I'm home I could look up and see what I bought.
Of the bulk, I bought:
Stokkebye Nougat
Stokkebye Optimum

Then I picked up a pouch of
Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey

Other than larger cans of the Borkum Riff, all they have is Prince Albert,
and then a wide variety of Captn Black, and some sort of flavored cavendish pouches.

We decided to suck it up and go down to see the B&M guy that was so rude to my wife. Since he is a specialty pipe guy, I figured I should be able to find some of the tins there that I keep reading about. Specifically one with Frog in the name (can't remember right now). when I mentioned it to him, he was completely lost, then tried to cover himself by saying "Oh yeah, I remember that stuff from many many years ago. That's an old brand that's not around anymore." Whatever. All he had was a bunch of bulk stuff of aromatics.

While I was perusing his pipes, Wifey headed for the humidor to see if there was anything good available but no such luck. Just a bunch of way overpriced cigars, and when we asked about Davidoff, Avo, Zino & Diamond Crown he just laughed and said they were too expensive for his store.
This guys been there for over 30 years. I can't imagine how he stays in business.

He probably uses the store as a front. There is a store in Atlanta like what you are describing....

Just do like I do, order online. The closest B&M to me is 40 miles away. I stop in when I'm close and always buy several sticks or a tin or 2 but I don't make special trips anymore.

I wouldn't ever step foot back in that store if I were you. I have a few like that.

That guy can't know much about pipe tobacco if he doesn't know Frog Morton. Sad to say, but most B&M's stick with bulk aromatics. That guy is a waste of time. He probably caters to a bunch of regulars that buy the same stuff regularly, week after week. I buy my tinned tobacco online. There are several good retailers.

What a jerk. Don't bother going back, he sounds like neither pleasant company nor much help.
