Layer different 'Baccy in same bowl?

Might as well get all these weird questions out there all at once...

Do you ever layer in different 'baccy in the same bowl? For example, a dryer 'baccy on the bottom and a moister 'baccy on top? Or flavors that compliment each other? or any other combo?

Not talking about mixing them...I'm talking about layering them.

The stack. Nothing wrong with stacking for a change of pace.

I have never thought of layering. But trying to mix to complementary aromatics sounds intereting. Perhaps a chocoate and amaretto.
Yum.

I thought about mixing Westminster and Fillmore to create a sort of Frankenstein's delight. I think I'd try it in a cob.

Yes, a parfait. personally i don't do this but my truck pipe sees alternating bowls of Carter Hall and whatever latakia blend I am not totally thrilled about. Over time the Carter hall now has more depth while the Lat bowls seem softened somehow.

The wold is your pipe tobacco oyster

So the proper term is "Stacking? Cool. Might try some Berry Cobbler on the bottom and a vanilla blend on the top next time.

And then there's the ol' Triple Black Stack... straight latakia on top, Lane's BCA in the middle, and straight perique on the bottom. Yum, Yum!

Well French sympathizers might call it a parfait but red blooded Americans call it "stacking"

Re: Layer different 'Baccy in same bowl?

Stacking or Parfaiting, whichever name you prefer, has been done almost forever. I have done it for many, many years, as I am sure many others have as well. You can produce very interesting, complex smokes by doing so.

There are two suggestions, I'd like to make to those who are new at it. First, I'd like to suggest that you never try to layer more than three different blends, at one time. A bowl layered with two or three blends seems to give you the best flavor profile.

Second, when layering, always place your strongest blend in first, followed by the next strongest, and so on. The strongest blend you are using should always be on the bottom, or the first blend in! If you use the stronger blends last, they will burn first, and they drown out the flavor of weaker blends.

I agree with JF on this except in the case you might be trying to dispose of something bland or flavorless in which case putting it in the bottom will add a little something to it. Not a lot of tobaccos are so dull but on occasion it does happen
