My early morning relaxation before I go to bed....keep in mind I work 8pm to 4 am so Im at home in my recliner at 5am sipping a glass of merlot and smoking a bowl of GL Pease Blackpoint....

I like the combo and by 6:30am Im fast asleep dreaming good dreams...

I like my vapers with bourbon as well...

Night all!

I must disagree with you here sir. Drinking Liquor or beer by oneself does not necessarily indicate a problem. If its a nice glass of scotch, congnac, vodka even (anything of high quality) it is equally as classy as wine, perhaps more so if the wine is of low enough quality. And beer, don't even get me started. A great microbrew and a cigar is a thing to be envied. Binge drinking alone is a problem. I absolutely love a good IPA or Porter with a dark cigar or a bowl of something nice.

Could help us understand the past a little better.
That was an enjoyable read

Re: Pipe and Wine

As far as this goes I think to each their own.. It is exactly what wine, pipes, alcohol, and cigars represent. One person may love one type and the next guy will hate it. Drink whatever, smoke whatever. Simple.

Re: Pipe and Wine

^^^ perhaps, but i believe there can be somewhat of a consensus on what would fit well. Much like how catsup goes well with french fries and NOT well with chocolate chip cookies (at least for the general population).

I'm not much of a wine connoisseur, but i'm trying to get into it. So i'm not really sure where to start.

You gotta get out there and start trying different wines. See what you like and what you do not like. You will start to understand what year of grapes you like better and the different additives they put in.

Experiment. Pick up a bottle of merlot, pinot grigio, cabernet, shiraz, white zinfadel, chardonnay. If you are just getting into it, don't even look at the label just pick up some wines <$20. That way you can at least begin to understand the basic tastes of wines. Each type of wine is going to have a similiarity amongst brands. From here you can go into more expensive bottles, wines from different countries, or even mixed wines.

Re: Pipe and Wine

I know i'm more of a fan of white whine than i am red, and i recently had a bottle of Chardonnay that was World Market's brand, it wasn't too bad (didn't go good w/ the spicy shrimp po-boy i made though ). Especially for like $4.50 a bottle, i could digg it.
