Australian Customs

Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with ordering tabac into Australia?

Being somewhat dismayed that the customs charges are more than the cost of the tobacco - I wanted to exchange notes :-)

Re: Australian Customs

I have a few close friends from Oz and they have said ya just deal with it. You will pay duty on anything coming in, whether it be purchase or gift.

Re: Australian Customs

I pretty much have the same story. I have a cousin who lives there and he says that Australia has some very strict customs laws. You will definitely pay duty on things coming in... He also said that because Australia doesn't have the same diseases as the U.S does that they are very strict on what comes in. He shipped a car from Europe to Australia and had to have the whole inside steamed cleaned, and the outside had to be free of all dirt and washed.

There's a member here, Gig, who can give you first hand experience so you know if there are any ins and outs.

Re: Australian Customs

My experience is suck it up and pay the duty. I am about to place a large pipe tobacco order and will be paying ALOT of duty. Still it is cheaper than buying locally and the range is much wider overseas.
