Operation bring back Dunhill tobaccos!!!!!!!

Alright guys here's the deal. A lot of pipe smokers, myself included, enjoy the tobaccos Dunhill had to offer. Though they may not be the best tobaccos out there, and there are many other excellant tobaccos readily available, they still had their own identity and are obviously missed among the pipe smoking community. In an effort to capture the attention of the producers of Dunhill tobaccos as well as potential distributors, I think we should start a sort of e-petition. If enough of us put our names down for this it will represent how much potential business is being lost by not distributing these tobaccos in the United States, UK, and other regions. This may or may not be the best approach to this problem we have, but I haven't seen anyone do this yet and I miss my Nightcap!!!! If you wish to help the cause simply paste the list of names into your reply and add your own name and date to the list.

It all seems pretty complex. You might want to read this: Pipe Lore: Dunhill Tobacco Odyssey

I actually had not read that article yet. Thanks for posting it, it's filled with good info.

Slightly off topic, but I had no idea Dunhill was no longer sold in the US. I know a B&M close to me that has some of their stuff still in stock. I'll be down there tonight, and take alook at what they've got. The only blend that I know they have for certain is Nightcap. I'll let you know what I find when I'm down there tonight.

Cool let us know. I had a small cigarette shop near my house that had a few cans of nightcap, early morning pipe, and mixture 965 left. I bought about half of what they had, then made the mistake of telling the owner of the shop that Dunhill isn't being distributed in the US anymore. He quickly took the rest of the stock of the shelf and is probably saving it. Oh well. Guess we'll all have to get what we can.

There are no tins here. It's all bulk, in either half ounce, or one ounce bags. Still, I'll let you know what he's got.

Re: Operation bring back Dunhill tobaccos!!!!!!!

Nite Cap imediately came to mind when I first saw the post title. It is a blend I am wanting to try because I've heard 95% good about. The local B&M still had some tins of Standard Mixture Med and EMP. I like EMP a lot and SMM sort-a. I realize some of the Dunhill blends are fantastic but I also wonder if this sudden craze for Dunhill will fizzle once the blends are put back on the market. Does the craze have more with it being unavailable than the quality of the actual product? Makes me think of how WA State took the ban off Coors beer back in the late 70's. Before the ban, it was the cool thing to drink if you were a Washingtonian much like Cuban cigars are to smoke. Once the ban was lifted, Coors suddenly became regarded as....well....piss water. Not to say Dunhill is piss tobacco! It aint.

That's a good point. I personally think it has something to do with it. I myself feel more inclined to get my hands on some while I can because I like the tobacco a lot and want some before it's all gone. Of course, it would be nice if it were just readily available again. Which is why I started this thread with the petition, although we seem to have gone in another direction haha.

Re: Operation bring back Dunhill tobaccos!!!!!!!

I was more or less sharing my thoughts on the Dunhill chrisis more or less and had no intentions on taking it in a different direction. Judging from the quality of the Dunhill blends I have sampled, I think it is good tinned tobacco for the price considering I paid less than 10 bucks a tin at the local B&M for what I've sampled so far. From the reviews I've read, I look forward to getting a tin of Nitecap and Royal Yacht.

Re: Operation bring back Dunhill tobaccos!!!!!!!

Yeah I agree. All I've tried is Nightcap and EMP. I'd like to get my hands on some Elizabethan Mixture, but any of the Dunhill blends would do.

Re: Operation bring back Dunhill tobaccos!!!!!!!

So I checked at the B&M. His jars of nightcap and EMP are empty. He does have quite a bit of the three year Virginia though, if that interests you.
