i don't want to discourage anyone from trying new things, but there's a reason that the old "tried & trues" are there. the products that are made for hand application work fine, as do the products made for machine (buffer) application. for those of us w/just a few pipes, i'd suggest a buffing wheel on a drill mandrel, assuming you have a drill. the results are the same whether using a buffer or drill. if working by hand, be prepared for a fair amount of elbow grease.

Has anyone heard of Briwax or used it? Local DIY shops got some in and i wondered if its ok to use?
