What kind of pipe is this?
Well, a long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) I saw a pipe that I really liked. It was a unique clay or porcelain bowl with an extra chamber and a reed stem. I was told that it was an old Scottish style and that the extra chamber was where they would put some whiskey to accent the flavor of the tobacco. Now, I still want one, but cant find out what they are called so I can find it online. This is the only thing I could find close to what I saw: http://www.dargate.com/224_auction/224_pics/82.jpg . What is it, and where can I find them?

Re: What kind of pipe is this?
I think they're normally referred to as a cavalier. You might do a search for "old world pipes" and see what turns up. These guys do market traditional central european style pipes but I've never seen anything like the Scotty you're hunting. Maybe something will turn up in your searching. Good luck

Re: What kind of pipe is this?
Thanks guys! That got me a lot closer. Now I know what I am looking for is an Imperial German Style pipe. The shop owner who told me it was Scottish was way off! Now, to find a reproduction that isn't so expensive!

Re: What kind of pipe is this?
My guess was a German or Bavarian style pipe. Some of these can be bought cheap, some like the example you show above can go for high prices. Lets hope you get lucky...that one helluva fine pipe. Perhaps you could check Ebay.de (german ebay).

Re: What kind of pipe is this?
Awesome! thanks to your help, I have now classified the type of pipe I am looking for as a "Gesteckpfeife", a German or Austrian style pipe. Now, to find a seller who doesn't deal in euros and is in English. Thanks again guys. will update as the search continues!

Re: What kind of pipe is this?
I urge you to check with Ben Rapaport. Some of these types of pipes were made for decoration only and are not suitable for smoking. Once they experience heat, they will cr-r-r-ack-k-k! Ben will be able to set you up, I feel certain.
