Chicken or Egg Problem

Maybe the members of this forum can tell me which comes first:

Do I have the urge to smoke because I'm reading this forum? Or do I feel like reading this form because I have the urge to smoke?

All I know is that whenever I read this forum I end up smoking a pipe -- and loving it!

I think we all ended up on this forum because of an urge to smoke a pipe. Maybe even a subconscious urge in those cigar smokers who say they just happened to see a post with an interesting title and pop on over. So I think the original desire is for the pipe.

But when you're looking at someone who is already a regular participant on the forum, the question becomes much more difficult to answer. Maybe it's best viewed as a symbiotic relationship. Pipe smoking fuels the desire to comment on the forum and commenting on the forum fuels the desire to smoke a pipe - they both encourage each other creating a slippery slope.

One thing I am fairly certain of is that this forum is a cause of PAD and TAD. In fact, they should have warnings on here like they do on tobacco products: This forum may lead to an empty wallet and an angry wife.

I definitely get the urge to smoke from reading the forum. I typically browse the forum while at work and don't bring a pipe to work with me. I look forward to the end of the day to enjoy a nice, peaceful smoke. But I have to admit, this site is terrible for PAD! I see so many cool pipes here that I check out ebay a lot more than I should be!

Smoking the pipe came first. I like the social aspect of puffing as well so I googled pipe smoking forums and found this one. It's been a great learning experience reading the messages and links posted here. I like to contribute when I feel my contributions are worthy.

I enjoy smoking pipes but only get an "urge" to do so when I get stressed or at the end of a very long day.
The rest of the time I smoke when I have the time to really enjoy myself.
I come here mainly for some like-minded camraderie.
