Orange hands while smoking??.....

I purchaed a Bjarne Freehand pipe a few months ago and have noticed twice that after I smoked it, my left hand would be orange. The first time I had actually just finished making the kids a pitcher of orange Kool-aid and figured it was from that but it happened again this past Friday after work. When I notice it while smoking, I have gotten a white rag and rubbed it on the pipe and nothing comes off (?) but yet it happens to my hand. I can rub my finger across the pipe while smoking and no orange rubs off either. But yet slowly throughout the smoke it does happen. I'll post a pic of the pipe in a few minutes. Anyone know what coukld be causing this and what I can do to correct it? This is the only pipe I own that I would consider expensive. The rest were all under $30.

Well, a different manufacturer, Boswell, has this in their FAQs:

I love my new green Boswell freehand. It smokes great, but some of the color rubs off onto my hand. Is this normal?

This is actually pretty normal behavior for a lot of blue, green and red colors. The stain pigments will bleed a bit during the first few smokes as the pipe is heated. It isn't something to worry about.
