Cool Dave. What blends have you tried and liked? What were the two VaPers you tried (there are good VaPers and not so good VaPers)?

Also what new blends did you order?

If you take time to answer some of these questions, the BOTLs here may be able to help suggest some others for you to try.

Re: Opening my field of view on tobaccos

The VAper was Dorchester 2 tins, it was different and a real nice surprise.

The blends I ordered were from pipe and cigar.
Owl's Head
Old Lodge
Pine Grove
Trout Stream

I've been smoking Dorchester lately. I like it a lot. It is very subtle and refined. I would also recommend if you want a bigger/rounder flavor, McC 2015. It is not as 'sophisticated' but it pretty much always gives me a good smoke.

I have not had Dorchester, though I am a fan of Esoterica's blends (specifically Penzance and Margate for English baccy, Stonehaven is also a decent VA).

I looked up information on the pipesandcigars.com blends, looks like you have:

Owl's Head - Lat/Turk/Per

Old Lodge - Lat/Va

Pine Grove - Lat/Blk Cave

Trout Stream - Cave/Blk Cave

For something along the lines of the Lat/Turk combo, try Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader. A good mild English.

For something along the lines of the Lat/Va combo, try GL Pease Westminster. A little stronger English.

For a slightly smokier English, give GL Pease Maltese Falcon a try. It is nice and smooth and smokey, reminds me of camping.

Other VaPers I would recommend giving a shot are AC Peterson Escudo and Robert McConnel Scottish Cake. Both are great examples of the VaPer style of baccy.

Good luck to you mate!

Re: Opening my field of view on tobaccos

The Trout Stream is a all day smoke the VA is smooth with a nice vanilla twist but still that sweet VA. The Owls Head is funny never smoked anything like it, it has a smoky but creaminess to it. Different but still a nice blend, havent tried the Old Lodge to any degree or the Pine blend.
