Lapsang Souchong. Lapsang souchong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's black tea that smoked over a pine fire on bamboo. It's also delicious. After a few cups, I've begun to think of this as the "scotch of teas". Twinings makes a excellent version that you can find in grocery stores. From their package: "Lapsand Souchong tea comes from China's Fujin Province and Taiwan. The unique flavour of Lapsang Souchong is produced by lying the leaves out on bamboo trays and allowing smoke from pinewood to permeate though them. Twinings Lapsang Souchong is an adventurous tea with a unique smoked flavour and a dark rich colour."

Just emailed my neighbor, a chinese classmate who drinks tea regularly, to see if she has any. I wanna try this out now lol

Ahhh Lapsang Souchong. Possibly my favorite of the black teas.
If you guys have a place called Teavana where you live, they sell a great lapsang. But please, for the love of all that is holy, do not buy the teabag version. Leaf is the only way to go with this tea.

This has been a favorite of mine for years!! I even occasionally do the cream & sugar thing with it - still delish!

Porto Rico Imports in New York City is the only place I will buy coffee and tea. Fortunately, they also have Lapsang Souchong for $10 a pound, and you can order by the ounce.
If you're into Earl Grey, it's by far the best Earl Grey I've ever tasted. I order it by the pound, and drink it daily. Their coffees are roasted daily, by them, and they sell hundreds of pounds weekly. It's always fresh. Please, do try! If you ever go into NYC, it's worth a visit just for the smells! WWhermit

I couldn't get into latakia blends, but when I was smoking them to give em a try, I found that they really complimented darjeeling teas well.
