Judging a B&M Peterson Tin Age
One of the local B&Ms has an OK selection of tinned Petersons.
MOST of the tins have the cursive "Peterson's" logo: ![]() But some have "made exclusively for Peterson's of Dublin" on them (and are dusty) ![]() When did they switch label styles? And here is a POP QUIZ!!! (What the heck or who the heck makes this?) They also have a bulk called "Late Afternoon" that looks like a half-rubbed blend of some sort. Not too heavily cased, maybe a whiskey, a fleck or two of Cav and some rough cut Virginias maybe, but I can't identify the chunks... There is a hint of spice leaf too... Re: Judging a B&M Peterson Tin Age
Look on the back, there is probably a fine-print-label there with the maker and importer name. The second tin (with the huge propoganda blurb) looks like an European version - they like having these obnoxious statements on fun things. Our US warnings are mellow, MAY CAUSE FETAL INJURY ... OK, I'm not pregnant (thank heavens!) - cleared to light up.

Oh, those are just example photos, they are both US style, without the huge nanny-state warnings |

Re: Judging a B&M Peterson Tin Age
I HAVE NEWS FROM IRELAND!!!
So I emailed Peterson to find out about the tin change.... Here is their Reply: Dear Mr. Phatmax All of the new tobacco labels were launched onto the market mid to late 2003. The new tins were designed to facilitate the increased size of Health Warnings which would have covered most of the original designs. I hope this information is of help. Kind regards Angela I have a tin that is a MINIMUM of 6 years old.... WOOT!!!! I need to go back and buy the others I saw! |

Re: Judging a B&M Peterson Tin Age
So is 6 year old Sunset Breeze for 11 bucks a decent deal? (and smoke)

Re: Judging a B&M Peterson Tin Age
Aromatics don't age as well as English, Burley and Va...I love to try a 6 yr old tin of Irish Flake...but I don't think the blend is that old.
