Re: Obligatory Introduction

I just fell in love with his pipe descriptions. How can you not appreciate someone who has so much fun & pleasure being who he is and at the same time being a true pipe connoisseur as well. He straddles the line very well guys.

Some sample Bear'ism's

"It's bound to attract attention and pleasing comments wherever you go (or scare the hell out of everyone, really could go either way)."

"it is also for pipes such as this that Sykes insists that I wear a drool bib while describing"

"Yes, much like a Yettie and the Loch ness Monster, while rarely seen (especially by the sober) the Ardor Super Giant exists. Now, now...don't give me any guff about the Yettie, I once did a ride to Sturgis with him (claimed his name was "Guardrail" and, while he stunk like hell, he did seem to have a way with the "wimmin")."

"This Ardor Urano Giant liverpool is so big..("How big IS it?!") it's SO big that it had to go to Sea World to get baptized!

I dont mean to focus on that humor element. Its actually just a small part of the man. It does however highlight his depth. Along with his sophistication, I ask you - what better mix in life is there?!? For me personally, none.

Bear is one of the Good Unique Guys out there.
And a word of caution - He is infectious! in a good way.

Thanks, David. Your payola, in the form of a well kept Nanna Ivarsson, is on the way (the second that I can swipe it from Sykes' desk).

Re: Obligatory Introduction

Welcome to the forums Bear. I too love your guys' site. Even though I haven't made a purchase yet, for a noobie your site has been a valuable source of info for me when looking up various pipes.

[Flashes uncomfortable smile to everyone in the room, waves a bit to all & grabs Bear by the arm and nudges him into a corner as I continue to cautiously look at the various confused eyes staring at us both and through my clenched teeth and continued fake smile I whisper into Bear's ear]

..."you said I would get the DUNHILL!!!"

I can make it a Dunhill. But given that a Nanna Ivarsson original runs between 2k-4k, ya might want to consider the original offer

Please Bear and others. Elaborate on the IMP Meerschaum a bit more. What makes it different from the others coming out of Turkey? I have never owned an IMP.

While I (personally) have quite a few reasons that I prefer IMP, as a member of a company that sells the same, I also have a profit motive in promoting their sales. I would rather be the pipe enthusiast who enjoys chatting about the hobby than become known as "that guy" who joins a forum in order to be a huckster/shill. Even mentioning IMPs, I crossed a personal line and apologize.

With your permission, I'd rather let others praise/damn the product based on their individual experiences.

I remain,

Da' Bear

You better grab Nanna Ivarsson's over the Dunhill, or we have some SERIOUS talkin to do. Or, grab both and give me the Nanna Ivarsson, since you don't seem too interested!

You can feel free to promote via a PM then. Just an honest opinion is all I want even if it is self serving.

I would love to see a well-colored IMP, you have to know someone who has one.
