Re: On average, how many bowls a tin

This is always a fun one.Though not always the case, think of the tobacco chamber as a cylinder. The tin, be it shallow, such as a 100 gram tin of 965, or a taller one, like Rattrays, is likewise a cylinder.

To calculate the volume of a given area: Pi times the radius squared times the height. Calculate both the tin and your chamber (I multiply the
volume of the tin by 1.25, it's not like most of us smoke a bowl at tin density) and divide.

Then again, slow smoking contests usually dole out 3 grams of tobacco, which does a decent job of filling most medium chambers, so dividing the number of grams in a given tin by three might well get you close.

Yours, in super wild-assed guesses,

Da' Bear

No no no! No math needed ...

Pop open the tin in question. Line up 6 or 7 cobs. Dust off armchair. Refill lighter (or get matches). Get a chalk or pencil. Fill a glass with appropriate liquid (high octane preferred). Eject spouse from premises for duration of test.

Load bowl one ... ignite. Chalk off one scratch on tabletop. Puff, enjoy. When finished, light bowl two, chalk off another scratch. Repeat till tin is empty. Count scratches on tabletop when the tin is finished - and THERE is your answer

I think the last scratch on the table might be your forehead bouncing off the table after that many bowls and high octane drink!!

Re: On average, how many bowls a tin

I'd guess 20 briar bowls from a regular tin but for a cob it would be more.

I must admit that your logic, Sir, is unassailable!

Re: On average, how many bowls a tin

I usually get about 20 or so bowls out of a 50g tin.

Of course, with a Boswell Grisly,
you get about one bowl per tin.
