Was it the bowl of Borkum Riff in a burned up Dr. Grabow that you smoked to celebrate your first real job, or the 15 year old Balkan Sobranie smoked in your Jim Cooke pipe to cheer you up after your divorce?

So far, mine was Fillmore in a Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman smoked out behind a Wine Cafe on a windy day. My matches barely got it lit, but I was celebrating the start of a new career with some colleges, and it was my first taste of perique. My head spun with the hearty mixture of perique buzz and a few pints of Spaten Optimator.

I didn't smoke a pipe when I got my first real job, I didn't need further cheering up when I got my divorce (several friends helping me celebrate, along with a lot of beer) so I'd have to say the first bowl of the 19 year old McClellands virginia #22. Aging is all they say it is, folks!

26 years ago. A Savenelli bulldog filled with My Mixture 965, near 5:30 am, on the emergency room drive-in loop. Having spent nearly 24-hours with my then wife for the birth of our first child, my oldest son. Nothing has tasted the same as that bowl, smoked way too fast by a dog-ass tired smoker who just had to have it to finally release some tension and to help appreciate would had just transpired.

Two of the best smokes I've ever had took place on cool evenings in Scotland in late March of 2003. The blends were from thepiperoom.com: Black Watch and Balmoral. One bowl (in a cheap, no-name straight briar I bought off of eBay) I smoked while watching the sun go down from the top of Gallows Hill in Stirling; the other was in a Savinelli churchwarden, smoked a mile or two outside of Kinlochleven on the West Highland Way while sitting next to a rushing stream. Heavenly.
