If I like the tin, I'm seriously considering getting one of those bags. Not a bad deal at all!

Re: How Many Open Tins?

Count me in as another 1792 lover! I bought a few ounces of bulk that I'm smoking through nicely, and I've got a lb queued up for my next order whenever I scrape the cash for that.

Oh, and to answer the question, I've got it down to two tins! I had 5 tins open but I jarred them all up for long term storage.

Re: How Many Open Tins?

Usually, I only keep two tins open (a virginia and a light aromatic). Since I don't smoke a lot, this keeps my tobacco fresh without having to stuff it into a jar or baggie.

I did the thing with jars for a year or so but since I gave it up I rarely have a problem with drying and if I do I just smoke it like it is. Never really noticed a loss of flavor as a result.

Re: How Many Open Tins?

I open tins and then jar the contents. I also jar my bulk, but of the ones I currently allow myself to dip into I've about 30+ jars that I delve into for a bowl or two. As for tins, none survive after the initial opening .....

Re: How Many Open Tins?

I have 33 open tins and jars the open tins are kept in some what air tight and water proof ammo boxes and i have never had a problem with the tins going dry. Some have been in there for up to 9 months or more. Jars are in my desk drawer I get the Ball jelly jars perfect for 2oz. I like the assortment keeps things interesting.

I'm sure you'll like it if you give it a chance. It might be pretty rough your first time, because it's quite strong & has a unique smell. But if you don't like it at first, just stick it in a jar for a few months and come back to it, I think you'll be surprised.

I actually just ordered 4 oz. today. I'll smoke that while I age the couple of tins I have. I'm interested to see what it's like after a year or two of aging.

Oh yeah & to answer the question, I think I have five tins open right now as well as a few ziplock bags & some drug store pouches.
